OUR ORIGINS

The Garden Shop was founded in 2018 by us, Ro and Ellie. A mother and daughter team with a passion for gardening and growing. We opened our little shop because we just couldn't stop growing plants and we needed an outlet for them; so after many long conversations (and cups of tea) our dream became a reality!

We first opened the doors to our little shop with a very limited amount of stock, apart from all of our plants. But from there we have managed to grow slowly but surely, not without having a few moments of doubt along the way.

​Ro has been gardening for over 30 years and  when she isn't in the shop she will be found in the polytunnel or pottering away in the garden.

Ellie has been passed down the love of gardening after growing up outside, helping in the garden from a young age, she now runs a gardening business and is RHS qualified.

We decided to open The Garden Shop to provide the local community with locally grown plants and to encourage people to get green fingered!

During the pandemic being in the garden was invaluable for many. Although we had to close our doors our customers stayed loyal and ordered plants that we then left in our front garden with an honesty box for them to collect.

We have decided to open up online  because our little shop in Hatherleigh (Devon's smallest town!) is full to the seams but we don't want it to stop up from growing and now we are able to share our passion with more of you!
